We all agree that Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II also known as A-1o “Warthog” is a beast of an aircraft. A-10 is named as the “Takbuster” or the “Flying Gun” for a reason.
This aircraft is basically built around a GAU-8 Avenger. The General Electric GAU-8 Avenger is a 30 mm hydralic driven seven barrel gattling autocannon. GAU-8 Avenger is designed specially for the anti-tank role and it can deliver very powerful rounds at a very high rate of fire close to 70 runds per second and around 4000 rounds per minute.
The A-10 “Warthog” is an always a welcoming sight for the ground friendly troops when they are in trouble. We all know what happens to ground enemy troops when an A-10 start to fly over the battlefield.
