Watch: U-2 “Dragon Lady” Pilot Aborts Landing After Plane Bounces Off Runway

The Lockheed U-2 aircraft is very popular by the name “Dragon Lady”. It is single-jet reconnaissance aircraft that can fly at high altitudes. First, it was flown by Central Intelligence Agency and later the United States Air Force started flying it. This aircraft is used to gather intelligence during day and night and in all weather. The first flight of the U-2 took place in August 1955. The US Air Force maintains a fleet of more than 30 U-2 planes till now.

The Dragon Lady is considered one of the hardest planes to land. This aircraft is actually made to tip over once it comes to a stop on the runway so that the ground crew can re-attach the wheels under the wings for taxiing. The U-2 requires a chase car to follow and guide the pilot after the landing while talking over the radio. The long nose of the aircraft makes it hard for the pilot to see the runway.

The U-2 in the following video starts to bounce off the runway while landing and the pilot decided to abort the landing and come again for the landing.
