In the F-15 aircraft history, there is an interesting day when F-15 landed with only one wing. This incident took place in May of 1983. This happened while A F-15D Eagle and an A-4 Skyhawk were on a training exercise over the desert Negev over Israel. These two aircraft collided and the pilot of the Skyhawk ejected automatically. Israeli air force pilot Zivi Nedivi who was flying the F-15D kept flying the aircraft and realized something is wrong after the aircraft went into a spin.

After the collision Nedivi was commanded to eject. Because of the fact that the runway was not so far away (around 10 miles), the F-15 pilot refused the command and tried one of the bravest and most scary landings in aviation history. The pilot had to maintain a high speed in order to keep the aircraft stable. So the F-15’s speed at the time of the landing was more than the recommended speed.

However, with Nedivi’s skills and smart thinking, he could land the aircraft safely and stop the aircraft with just 10 meters left for a collision. After the incident, this F-15 was fully recovered showing how good of a fighter jet the F-15 is.
