Just before the opening of the Olympic games, the Blue Impulse Aerobatic team of Air Self-Defense Force did a colorful demonstration in Tokyo sky. Six fighter jets flew over the city on the opening day of the Olympic games skywriting the five interlocking Olympic rings in different colors.

Japan Times reported that this wasn’t the first time that Blue Impulse made the Olympic Games opening ceremony a wonderful one. They have displayed in the openings of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics.
