A Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-34 fighter bomber aircraft was shot down by the Ukrainian armed forces in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian intelligence could intercept the radio transmission between the Su-34 pilot and the Russian air traffic controllers.

Even if the fate of the pilot is unknown, these were the terrifying final words of the Russian pilot before the radio transmission went fully silent.

“…I’m shot down!, … So where are we going to jump, Pash?… pull!!!”

The intercepted radio transmission by the Ukrainian intelligence also confirms that the left engine of the Su-34 aircraft caught fire in flight after it was hit by a missile. The audio recording was released by the Ukrainian intelligence and hasn’t been verified independently, but a military analyst said that the Russian Su-34 aircraft was shot down by a missile on the 18th of May near the city of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region.

A Ukrainian officer Yurii Kochevenko of 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade posted on Facebook about this incident.

The Sukhoi Su-34 is a Russian twin-engine, twin-seat, all-weather supersonic medium-range fighter/bomber aircraft. Although the first flight of the Su-34 took place in 1990 it entered service with the Russian Air Force in 2014. The Su-34 is one of the top fighter aircraft that Russia has in its air force fleet.
