British Typhoon Jets Intercept And Escort Russian Nuclear Bombers

Two Russian TU-160 bombers entered a “UK area of interest” on Friday the MoD confirmed. According to the Mil Radar, these Russian bomber aircraft approached the Dutch airspace and were heading north into international airspace over the North Sea before being intercepted by the British fighters.

British troops are deployed on the borders of Poland and helping in defending Polish borders from a migrant crisis.

The MoD said,

“Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon fighters based at RAF Lossiemouth & Coningsby were scrambled today against unidentified aircraft approaching the UK area of interest. Subsequently we intercepted and escorted two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack, long-range strategic bomber aircraft.”

According to the MoD, the Russian bombers did not enter the UK airspace.

Mariusz Blaszczak, Poland’s defence minister said,

“British Royal Engineers had started a “reconnaissance” mission with Polish peers. Our soldiers will co-operate in strengthening the fence of the Polish-Belarusian border”
